J. Lawrenz Decano (he/him) is an MA student in the Department of Geography at York University. He holds a BA in Urban and Regional Studies and a minor in Anthropology from the University of Lethbridge ('24). His research interests span the geographies of migrant labour, precarious experiences, everyday forms of resistance, and householding. His undergraduate thesis titled "The View from the Driver's Seat" offer urban ethnographies that share the tactical practices of migrant app-based couriers in the city of Lethbridge as they navigate and negotiate the precariousness of gig work. His current master's thesis titled "I smell precarity" will explore the lived-experiences of racialized migrant workers in southern Alberta's feedlot industry.
