Ryan is a dedicated researcher at the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research and York University's School of Global Health. Completing their PhD in Sociology at the University of British Columbia, Ryan explores national predictors and urban realities of queer food insecurity through mixed methods analysis. Their research employs food as a lens to examine social inequalities and promotes community empowerment and food sovereignty as pathways to food security and healthier communities. Ryan actively contributes to initiatives such as Saige Community Food Share and the Two-Spirit Dry Lab, advocating for 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities and Indigenous health. Recognized with a 2024 Emerging Scholar Grant from the Canadian Research Data Centre Network, Ryan's work underscores their commitment to health equity and social justice.
