Research Assistant, Humanitarian Engineering
Kanishk is in his last year at York University pursuing degrees in Civil Engineering (B.Eng.) and International Development Studies (B.A.). While at YorkU, he has studied engineering infrastructure with a focus on sanitation, water resources, transportation and shelter, as well as international development, sustainable urbanism, urbanization in developing countries and research methods in the field.
Kanishk is passionate about sustainable and resilient infrastructure which helps alleviate poverty and meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He hopes to pursue a Masters degree in this field and work for organizations such as the United Nations, where he can use his knowledge to create sustainable development and long-lasting impact.
During the summers of 2019 and 2018, Kanishk completed his Co-op terms at Metrolinx as an Engineering and Design Standards Student. He is actively involved with the United Nations Youth Assembly and Engineers without Borders.
