Susan Morrissey Wyse

Graduate Research Assistant, Synergies of Planetary Health Research Initiative

Research Team

Susan is a PhD student in the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change, focusing on the political intersection of energy transitions with justice and democracy. Susan carries a master’s degree in environmental studies (MES) from York University and an honours bachelor’s degree in political science and communication studies from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. Susan’s research is based on a recognition that democracy and justice within energy transitions can contribute both to climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience as well as to broader transformative change throughout society. Drawing insights from social and political thought as well as from historically situated social justice movements, Susan investigates emerging trends such as community energy, energy democracy, and energy justice. This research involves a combination of theoretical and applied research, including qualitative and quantitative research methods.
