Job description
Under the supervision of Dr. Poirier, the AMR Policy Accelerator RAY student (10 hours per week) will take part in designing and carrying-out research on important and timely aspects of AMR policy that will directly support real-time policymaking. Based on their skills and interests, the student might participate in projects related to:
• Developing an open-access database of evidence-informed AMR interventions that provides decision-makers with high-quality evidence summaries on AMR policy.
• Exploring the ethical dimensions of AMR policies and interventions.
• Using a sex- and gender-based analytic lens to examine the implications of AMR policies and interventions.
• Synthesizing evidence and developing policy options related to the One Health interlinkages between the human, veterinary, food system, and environmental dimensions of AMR.
Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:
• Collecting, cleaning, and supporting the analysis of data pertaining to AMR policy options.
• Searching for academic literature, and extracting and synthesizing information to support manuscript development.
• Conducting qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis pertaining to AMR policy options using R, Stata, SPSS, and/or NVivo, generating data visualizations such as figures and infographics.
• Supporting the presentation of findings to internal and external audiences by contributing to writing manuscripts, report, or policy briefs.
• Updating structured and annotated bibliographic reviews of existing literature.
• Managing sources using Zotero reference management software.

Type of training and support that will be provided to the student(s) in carrying out these research activities:
• Methodological training on data collection, analysis, and evidence synthesis.
• Subject matter training on policy options to address antimicrobial resistance.
• Regular status meetings with your supervising faculty and staff.
Qualifications
• Current undergraduate York student (we encourage applicants from diverse programs of study)
• Demonstrated interest in global health policy
• Demonstrated skills, experience, and familiarity with data collection and literature review
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent computer skills (word processing, email, database management, spreadsheets)
• Demonstrates an eagerness to learn and take on initiative
• Demonstrates organizational and time management skills
• Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team with researchers, students, and staff
• Coursework or research experience in any of the following areas would be considered an asset: economics, environmental studies, epidemiology, law, politics, public policy, qualitative research, statistics, or veterinary medicine.
