The fourth Critical Social Science Perspectives in Global Health (CPGH) Research workshop returns as an in-person event on Wednesday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to noon ET at the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research. Continental breakfast and lunch will be served. This year, Professor Harris Ali will be giving a keynote presentation exploring themes of critical social science perspectives. Participants will create new insights, engage in multidisciplinary collaboration, and discuss new research opportunities. Additionally, we will hear from the previous year's Seed Grant Recipients about the progress of their research projects. Some of the topics featured include:
- "Covid-19 and Healthcare Waste Management in Urban Africa"- Jeffrey Squire
- "Can Post-Vaccination Sentiment Increase Acceptance of Booster Jab?" - Blessing Ogbuokiri
- "State Capacity and Health Equity in a Post-Slavery Context: The Case of the Quilombolas in Brazil" - Simone Bohn
- "How is the Drug Misoprostol Being Used in Humanitarian Emergencies for Reproductive Indications?" - Maggie MacDonald
- "Decolonizing Planetary Health Through Williche Ecologies of Repair" - Pablo Aránguiz
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the CPGH Seed Grant program which will award five research seed grants of up to $5,000 CAD each. The seed grants will support critical global health research that contributes to the themes of the Dahdaleh Institute, which are planetary health, global health and humanitarianism, and global health foresighting.

This is an open call to York researchers to consider presenting at this year's in-person workshop.
York faculty and researchers (with the support of a York faculty member) are invited to deliver a brief five-minute, two-slide presentation on any current or planned research project that takes a critical social science approach to global health at the workshop. Participants will have an opportunity to gain thoughtful feedback on their short presentations.
The registration deadline for new research ideas presentations is March 8, 2023.
