Dr. Fawzia Gibson-Fall is a research fellow at the Dahdaleh Institute. Her current research looks at the role of security actors in global health. Fawzia is also building research collaborations in One Health, health misinformation, and disinformation alongside colleagues at King’s College London. Her Ph.D. research was supported by the prestigious Principal Award at Queen Mary University of London and explored the role of African militaries in global health. She is currently working on her first book based on her doctoral research and developing health and science communication projects.
Fawzia’s background in media and public broadcasting (including the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation / Radio-Canada) makes her particularly concerned with sharing research outside academia. She has 10 years of experience teaching global health in the United Kingdom. As a Lecturer in Global Health at University College London and as a Teaching Fellow at King’s College London, she developed postgraduate and undergraduate courses in Conflict & Health, Global Burden of Disease, Health Systems, Health Policy and Child Health. Fawzia also curated and ran a monthly global health conference program at the Royal Society of Medicine and has co-developed and delivered research capacity-building programs as part of King’s health partnerships in Sub-Saharan Africa.
