Faculty of Education Assistant Professor Vidya Shah was on Breakfast TV to discuss the fears around coronavirus that have been causing misinformation to move around leading to discrimination against the Chinese community.
“It is important to talk to young people about how easily fear, panic and misinformation leads to discrimination and bias” Shah said. She highlighted the importance of dialogue in the classroom to overcome the fear and to combat the increased bullying, calls for social exclusion and isolation that takes place in schools.
