“This is a wonderful and well-deserved recognition of Deborah’s research and its significance,” said Lyndon Martin, Dean of the Faculty of Education. “It is also the Faculty’s first York Research Chair, awarded through a highly competitive process, and acknowledges the importance of pedagogy within the university.”

York now has a total of 24 research chairs, four years after the YRC program was launched.
The YRCs is an internal program aimed at building research recognition and research capacity, with excellence in research, scholarship and associated creative activity being the selection criteria. Standards, expectations and supports for YRCs are at the same level as for the Canada Research Chairs program.
This program is designed to recognize excellence that’s already in existence at York U and supports the programs of the University’s most active researchers.
