The Faculty of Education provides an environment where students are encouraged to challenge the status quo to uncover new possibilities in the advancement of education. Professor Sue Winton appointed York Research Chair in Policy Analysis for Democracy
Winton’s YRC research program will collaborate with multiple public sector organizations to understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education privatization in Canada.
Professor Carl James honoured with a Distinguished Research Professorship
James was honored at the Faculty’s spring 2023 convocation ceremony for his exceptional research and impact within and beyond the University.
Professor Roopa Trilokekar was awarded this year’s CBIE Excellence Catalyst Award
Trilokekar was selected for her outstanding quality research and for bringing cutting-edge knowledge to the field of international education.
Professor Gillian Parekh received the President's Emerging Research Leadership Award
Parekhwas awarded for her notable impact on her field and contribution to advancing the University’s international reputation for research excellence while significantly and positively contributing to one or more aspects of the York community’s intellectual life.

Associate Professor Vidya Shah, Nada Aoudeh (Phd ’23) and their colleagues were awarded the UCEA 2024 William J. Davis Award for their article Tempering Applied Critical Leadership: The Im/Possibilities of Leading for Racial Justice in School Districts. The award is presented annually to the author(s) of the most outstanding article published in Educational Administration Quarterly (EAQ) during the preceding volume year.

NEW Certificate in Undergraduate Educational Studies
Students in the Bachelor of Arts Educational Studies program can now earn an Undergraduate Certificate in Educational Development to enhance their preparation and career options in the field.
Faculty of Education responding to need for careers in skilled trades
The Faculty’s Professional Learning Office launched new Technological Education Additional Qualification (AQ) courses, combining classroom learning with on-site experience to help address the shortage of qualified high school teachers.

The Faculty and Division of Advancement at York University officially launched the York University Education Alumni Network (YUEAN).
Connecting YU
Education alumni are invited to join Connecting YU, a new mentorship platform that connects current undergraduate students with graduates from York University's Faculty of Education.
