The Jean Augustine Chair in Education, Community & Diaspora is a university chair in the Faculty of Education which aims to advance access, equity and inclusivity to education through community engagement and collaborative action.

Located in the Faculty of Education, the Jean Augustine Chair in Education, Community & Education engages in research and program activities that are relevant and responsive to the needs, interests, expectations, and aspirations of Black youth, and members of the Black community generally in 5 areas of programmatic focus in education, employment, health, housing and social justice.

Through the range of activities described below the chair fosters understanding of the diverse cultural and educational needs of students; facilitates leadership on matters of access, equity, inclusivity and social justice; strengthens university-community partnerships and engagement; and builds educational and social capacity among students and community members whilst always employing an intersectional approach and frame.
