UNESCO Chair Charles Hopkins recognized with lifetime achievement award

York University’s UNESCO Chair Charles Hopkins is the recipient of the Clean50 Lifetime Achievement Award for his work on a global scale to reorient education towards sustainable development. This prestigious award recognizes Hopkins’ focus on creating a better future for all.

Recipients of the Provostial Fellowships announced

Professors Qiang Zha (education), Burkard Eberlein (Schulich), Sapna Sharma (science) and Cheryl van Daalen-Smith (health, Liberal Arts & Professional Studies) have been appointed York University Provostial Fellows.

Alumni Spotlight: Jonathan Clodman

Jonathan Clodman (BEd ‘19, MEd ‘20) is an educator and one of the four innovators behind Vaccine Hunters Canada. He holds three degrees from York, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Honours Psychology, a Bachelor of Education, and a Master of Education (MEd). Since stepping back from his role at Vaccine Hunters Canada, Jonathan has been concentrating on his position as a full-time elementary school teacher.   

Two Indigenous educators join the Faculty of Education

Two Indigenous educators join York University’s Faculty of Education this fall as full-time faculty members. They are Kiera (Kaia’tanó:ron) Brant-Birioukov and Rebecca Beaulne-Stuebing.

Associate Professors Sue Winton and Chloë Brushwood Rose have co-edited a special issue of the Journal of Teaching and Learning. The issue titled “Emerging Research on the Impacts of COVID-19 for Children, Youth, and Education features a number of Faculty of Education researchers.
