Michelle Bourgeois (pronouns: she/they) is an educator, activist and organizer in the ASL and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Michelle is a founder and director of Hands On ASL, an ASL organization that runs ASL classes, retreats and workshops taught by Deaf ASL 2SLGBTQIA+ instructors in the GTA for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and hearing 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, something she enjoys doing very much. As an elementary educator, she has also been teaching Deaf and Hard of hearing students for the past 18 years. She currently teaches at E.C. Drury School for the Deaf – Elementary. In Michelle’s work, she often seeks opportunities to discuss and navigate how anti-oppressive frameworks can play a role in encouraging more safe and positive spaces.
