Ingredients
Apple filling:
1 medium apple
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 nutmeg
½ tsp lemon juice
1 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp flour
Crisp Topping:
1/2 tbsp of melted butter
1 tsp brown sugar
1bsp of flour
3 tbsp of old fashion oats
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 nutmeg
Directions
Apple Filling:
- Peel and core the apple, then cut into bite-sized chunks.
- Add apples to mug or bowl and toss with cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon, sugar (if using) and flour.
Crisp Topping:
- Melt the butter in a small bowl in the microwave for 15 seconds
- Mix in butter with brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg
- Layer half the apple filling in a mug, then top with half the crisp mixture
- Pour the rest of the apples on top and top with the remaining crisp mixture
- Cook in the microwave for 2 ½ minute or until apples are tender and the crisp topping is bubbling
- Take it out, and cool for a few minutes and enjoy
TIPS:
- Use gluten-free flour and gluten-free oats to make it gluten-free
- You can substitute the crisp topping by simply crumbling an apple cinnamon rice cake on top
- If you like a more tart flavour, use granny smith or for a sweeter flavour, use golden delicious apples. These two apples can withstand heat well.
