Mark FleishmanMark Fleishman is an Associate Professor and Head of the Drama Department at the University of Cape Town. He is an award winning director and has directed all of Magnet Theatre’s productions since THE SHOW’S NOT OVER ‘TIL THE FAT LADY SINGS. He also functions as a writer, not only of theatre texts but has published many academic articles, mainly on South African theatre. He is the Artistic Director of Magnet Theatre. Above, Mark Fleishman is pictured at the performance of a community work created with over five hundred children and youth in Clanwilliam, South Africa, performed at dusk to a crowd of two thousand townspeople in an open air venue. Fleishman is wearing clay face paint which, along with candle lit lanterns held by the participants and giant puppets which were paraded through Clanwilliam in a procession, formed a part of the performance. |
