Foreign correspondent Nahlah Ayed to deliver John W. Holmes Lecture

Perspectives from award-winning foreign correspondent Nahlah Ayed will be the focus of this year’s John W. Holmes Memorial Lecture, which takes place online on March 1st from noon to 1:30pm. This event will be bilingual.

Titled "Dispatches From The World Of Foreign Correspondents", the lecture will provide a glimpse into Ayed’s experiences and offer a behind-the-scenes look at the fascinating world of foreign reporting. Ayed, who hosts CBC Radio One’s Ideas will share her insights. The lecture will be followed by a Q-and-A period.

Ayed is an award-winning veteran of foreign reporting: first, in the Middle East where she spent nearly a decade covering the region’s many conflicts. And later, while based in London, she covered many of the major stories of our time, including Russia’s annexation of Crimea, Europe’s refugee crisis, the Brexit vote and its fallout.

A former parliamentary reporter for The Canadian Press, Ayed is a graduate of Carleton University’s Master of Journalism program. She also holds a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies (philosophy, English and science) and a bachelor of science in genetics from the University of Manitoba.
