Certificates allow you to complete a specific group of university courses (for credit) as either part of your degree studies or separately.
This certificate offers practical university-level training in Spanish-English translation. It is designed to meet the growing demand for Spanish-English translators in Canada and worldwide. Your studies will fill an essential need in our society by providing training in linguistic, cultural, and translation skills — essential whether you are starting to pursue a career in translation or are a working translator looking for formal professional training. It is also an option for other professionals who have a high command of English and Spanish and wish to add translation to their professional profile and skill set.
This certificate provides individuals who have advanced language skills with practice, tools, and knowledge required to work in translation and related professional areas. Our courses include documentation, terminology, translation practice, revision, translation technologies, and project management and business practices for translators.
You’ll choose from two streams depending on your language skills: The Hispanophone stream is for students whose first language is Spanish and the Anglophone stream is for those whose mother tongue is English. If your first language is neither English nor Spanish, you’ll decide on a stream in collaboration with the coordinator of the certificate.
