Our office has developed a few tools to help you manage your money and stay on budget.

Back to School Checklist


Whether you’re a new or returning students, we find that lists are one of the best ways to stay organized. The list below helps you with both academic and financials steps to be ready to tackle the new academic year!

  1. Apply for government financial aid (e.g. OSAP, AFEQ)
  2. Check your Academic Decision
  3. Enroll in courses
  4. Map out transportation route (e.g. Free Glendon/Keele Shuttle, TTC, Parking)
  5. Put deadlines into your planner (e.g. Refund Tables, Important Dates, your course assignments)
  6. Create a budget to cover your school and personal expenses, and to make sure that they are below your income!
  7. Submit your Student Financial Profile Application (SFP)
  8. Apply for part time job or Work/Study (check job postings on the Career Centre site)
  9. Register for Accommodations with AWBC (if applicable)
  10. Visit the Bookstore for textbooks
  11. Opt Out of YFS Health Plan (if applicable)
  12. Make sure you stay safe, access the resources you need, and practice self-care

Money and Youth is an award-winning financial literacy program created by the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education and available for free online.
