Glendon Athletic Club Policies and Code of Conduct
Introduction:
The Glendon Athletic Club (GAC) is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all its members. To maintain a positive atmosphere and ensure the well-being of our community, we have established this Code of Conduct in line with York University’s Inclusion Strategy. York’s vision for an equity strategy is based on a commitment to decolonizing, equity, diversity, and inclusion (DEDI) and the fundamental belief that everyone should be treated fairly and equitably, with respect and dignity. All members are expected to adhere to these guidelines, promoting respect and cooperation.
Code of Conduct
Engaging in the following behaviours will be deemed as violating the code of conduct.
Course of action
- Warning:
- First occurrence of a minor violation will result in a verbal warning from GAC staff. Record of warning will be added to a member file along with a letter from management.
- Dialogue with Management:
- Continued violations or more severe infractions may lead to a meeting with GAC management to discuss the issue.
- During this meeting, a plan for corrective action will be developed.
- Suspension:
- If the unacceptable behavior persists, a suspension from GAC facilities may be imposed.
- The length of suspension will be determined based on the severity and recurrence of the violation.
Appeals Process:
Members have the right to appeal any disciplinary actions taken against them. To initiate the appeals process, the member must submit a written appeal to GAC management within 10 business days of receiving notice of the disciplinary action. A third party will be involved in the appeals process from York University Administration.
Review and Revision:
The Glendon Athletic Club reserves the right to review and revise this Code of Conduct as needed. Members will be notified of any updates, and all changes will be communicated clearly.
By adhering to the Glendon Athletic Club Code of Conduct, members contribute to the creation of a positive and welcoming fitness community. Your cooperation is essential for the enjoyment and safety of all. Thank you for your commitment to maintaining the standards of the Glendon Athletic Club.
