Overview

The Glen Frankfurter Conference Award was established by Glen Frankfurter to encourage excellence in human geography. This award will be granted to full-time Masters or PhD students enrolled in the graduate program of Geography who are conducting research in historical geography. Students must be in good academic standing and planning to present the results of their research at an academic conference in some capacity.

Value and Duration

  • One (1) or more awards of $600.

Eligibility

  • Masters or Doctoral student enrolled in Geography graduate program.
  • Registered active in full-time studies.
  • Good academic standing and planning to present the results of their research at an academic conference in some capacity.

How to Apply

Applicants to this award must submit:

  • Provide conference/meeting/workshop details (name and date);
  • The title and abstract of the paper they plan to present; and if applicable, the title of the session being organized and the current list of participants;
  • A list of graduate courses taken and assigned grades (official transcripts are not required);
  • A brief statement (100-200 words) outlining the importance of the conference for your scholarship development;
  • A listing of other sources and amounts of funding that are confirmed, expected, or for which you will be applying, in order to attend the conference, meeting or workshop;
  • A statement of funds you have received in the past from the Frankfurter Awards, and the conference/meeting/workshop you attended.
