Jim MacNeill Award

Overview

The Jim MacNeill Award is named in honour of Jim NacNeill's outstanding contribution to promoting sustainable development. This award supports incoming MES/JD students in the Faculty of Environmental & Urban Change. The joint MES/JD (formerly known as the MES/LLB) program was established in 1974 to encourage the integration of these two critical fields: environmental studies and law.

Value and Duration

  • 1 award of $12,500 (or 2 awards of up to $6,250)
    The value and number of award(s) in any given year will depend on the rate of distribution from the endowment fund and the number of recipients selected. Non-renewable.

Eligibility

  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents and/or protected persons who are residents of Ontario
  • Selection criteria includes:Incoming MES/JD
    • Academic accomplishments
    • Statement of Research and CV (upon nomination students will be contacted by OSAS and asked to submit these documents)
    • Financial need (upon nomination students will be contacted by OSAS and asked to complete the Student Financial Profile)

Note: Students may enter the MES/JD combined program starting with Law or with Environmental Studies.  Either way, students are considered for the Jim MacNeill Award upon being registered full-time (Fall/Winter) for the second year of study in the partner program.

  • The MES/JD Program Committee identifies eligible nominees each year in early Fall term and through the OSAS requests appropriate documentation. Click here for more information.
