Eight-Step Editing will help you make your writing stronger. It provides a “toolkit” of techniques for making a text more readable by finding and removing some of the most common barriers to reaching your intended audience. It is especially relevant for academic writers, who face significant challenge in writing about complex subjects.
Seasoned writers and editors tend apply these techniques intuitively. Eight-Step Editing’s systematic approach helps them ensure they haven't overlooked any crucial factors affecting readability. It also offers them a way to look more objectively at their own writing with the reader’s experience in mind, and provides a guide for focusing their energy when resources (time, money, attention) are limited.
Novices often fall into paralysis, not knowing where to begin improving a text. Eight- Step Editing gives them an objective starting point and proven techniques to apply as they develop their skills. The Eight-Step Editing workshop combines theory with practice. Participants gain an understanding of the principles underlying each of the eight steps, and then apply them through interactive exercises.
Whatever your level of writing skill, you will leave the online workshop better able to make sure your ideas actually get through to your readers.
