The Humanities Graduate Student Association (HUGSA) is a student-run club that represents the Humanities Graduate students. HUGSA aims to provide a space for our students to engage in discussions regarding topics within humanities and other disciplines. We also hope to help create a friendly social space for you to meet others in the program.
Conference
The Humanities Graduate Student Association, in collaboration with the Humanities Graduate department, is excited to announce our annual 2024 HUGSA Conference: Traces of the Human. Please see our Call for Proposals.
The category of the “human” has been, if not entirely sidelined and stepped over, certainly desiccated of all sense by the technological and social upheavals of recent centuries, most noticeably in late modernity. It has become necessary, considering the resurgence of global political violence, to re-investigate human identity, with the rights and responsibilities it entails.
The (replanned) conference is tentatively scheduled for the Fall reading week of 2024. We invite you to submit a title and proposal (max. 300 words), along with a brief bio, to aliaslan@yorku.ca by September 30.
