The admissions process for the MPPAL program at York is competitive. To be considered for admission, candidates must have either:
- Completed an Honours Bachelors degree (or its equivalent) from a recognized University with a minimum grade point average of B+ in the final two years and a minimum of five years work experience in a relevant public sector management, administrative, or supervisory position.
OR
- Completed an Honours Bachelors degree (or its equivalent) from a recognized University with a minimum grade point average of A in the final two years. Under this category, students may have completed less than five years of work experience in a relevant public sector management, administrative, or supervisory position.

The Admissions Office will automatically retrieve transcripts from students who graduated with York University degrees, but transcripts from other universities must be sent by those universities to the York University Admissions Office as soon as possible after the online application is completed.
