The following checklist can assist you in preparing for your graduate career at York and help ensure a smooth transition to campus life.
1. Accept your offer of admission and read the details of your offer letter using MyFile.
2. If you were conditionally admitted to your program, please provide the required documentation to satisfy the conditions as soon as possible.
3. Contact your graduate program office for information about advising, courses and program orientation. For students with diagnosed disabilities, please visit our Accommodations page.
4. Set up your Passport York online authentication, and email account. These allow you to log in to online services for students.
5. Sign up for YU START—your online resource for preparing for your academic journey, including a Discussion Board to have your questions answered by students.
6. Register online. As a graduate student, you must register for all three terms of the academic year. Note: In Fall, you can only register for FA/WI courses. For SU courses (Summer), enrolment and registration will take place in the new year.
7. Enrol in your courses. Please visit How to Enroll for more information.
8. Address any outstanding balances owing on your student account. If you are a funded student, this will be after your funding package is posted. Visit Student Financial Services—Fees for more information.
9. Watch for additional details from your graduate program office and the FGS website for news and events announcements from the Faculty.
10. Get your YU-card. York’s official university ID card which you’ll need to access campus services including the Library, recreation facilities and more.
11. Review transit details for getting to campus, including the York University subway station. Parking permits can also be purchased through Parking Services.
12. Attend your program orientation event and our GRAD@York event for all incoming graduate students.
