Director's Message

GREETINGS AND WELCOME!

Welcome to the Master of Fine Arts in Theatre at York University. Our program has been changing and continues to undergo some major shifts. For many years, we have offered programs in Acting, Directing, Creation, and Design. We focused on bringing in established professionals to help them take the next steps in their careers as artists; retool, change focus, deepen or articulate their approach, and/or develop a focus on teaching. Most recently we have had specializations in two areas: an MFA in Performance Creation and an MFA in Design. Our students have gone on to create award-winning work and/or teach across the country and internationally.

With changing faculty due to retirements, adjusting to post-pandemic realities, and a desire to expand our focus and awareness of diversity and inclusion, we have decided to put all of our MFA's on hiatus until we can spend serious time revisioning what will be the best studio Theatre programs to offer for our current times.

We are still here to answer your questions about the coming new MFAs!
