[Title on screen: “Why am I now in a Psychology Major?” Text on screen: “Kinesiology (Kine) is an Honours only program (120 credits). Your cumulative grade point average (CGPA) has fallen below the Honours Progression standards. Kinesiology students who do not maintain Honours Progression standards are automatically switched to a Psychology 90 credit program (BA or BSc).”]
Why am I now a psychology major? Kinesiology is an honours only program as such students must maintain honor standing which will be reviewed in a later slide in order to continue in the program your cumulative grade point average or CGPA which is the overall average of all courses you have taken at York has fallen below the Honor standing guidelines kinesiology students in both. The Bachelor of Arts and The Bachelor of Science degree who do not maintain honors progression standards are automatically switched to a psychology 90 credit program this switch allows you to continue your studies at York University in a different program

[Graduation cap and diploma. Title on screen: “What is honours standing?” Text on screen: “Graduation requirement is a minimum 5.00 cumulative grade point average (C+). Honours progression chart stipulates the CGPA that students must maintain to stay in honours.”]
To graduate with an honours degree from York students must maintain a minimum 5.0 or c-plus cumulative grade point average. However the university will permit students who do not meet the 5.0 average to continue in honours provided they meet the progression requirements as displayed in the following chart.
0:01:28.000 --> 0:02:15.000
[Title on screen: “Honours Standing”. Text on screen: “Progression requirements to maintain honours standing. Earned credit = final grade of 50% (letter grade of D) or higher” Chart on screen: “Year Level 1, Credits earned 0 to 23, Minimum cumulative grade point average 4.00. Year level 2, credits earned 24 to 53, minimum cumulative grade point average 4.25. Year level 3, credits earned 54 to 83, minimum cumulative grade point average 4.80. Year level 4, credits earned 84 or more, minimum cumulative grade point average 5.00.”]
This is the honor standing grade point average requirement table the required grade point average depends on the number of earned or passed credits an earned credit means a grade of at least 50% or above and a letter grade of at least d students who have completed less than 84 earned credits whose cumulative grade point average is below 5.0 may continue and honors provided they meet the year level progression grade point average requirements. The first column is the year level and this is determined by the number of earned credits. The next column lists the range of earned credits. The final column lists the minimum cumulative grade point average which students must maintain for an honours program.

[Title on screen: “Note about transfer credit”. Text on screen: “Courses taken at other institutions are counted in earned credit total. For example, 24 credits earned prior to York added to 24 credits taken at York = 48 credits and Year 2 status”.]
One very important point to remember is that if you came to York with transfer credit from another institution or if you took courses and other institutions on a letter of permission you must account for these credits in the earned credit range for example if you receive 24 transfer credits and earn 24 credits in your first year at York your earned credit total would be 48 and you would be considered to be in year 2 therefore you need to maintain at least a 4.25 cumulative grade point average in order to continue in honors.

If your cumulative grade point average is below 4.0 you will be placed on academic warning to return to good standing you must achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least a 4.0 within your next 24 credits taken or an sessional grade point average of at least a 5.0 in the session that the 24th credit is completed.

[Title on screen: “Options overview”. Text on screen: “1. Continue in 90 credit BA/BSc Psychology (PSYC) program. 2. Switch to 90 credit BA/BSc Global Health (IHST) program. 3.
