Dr. Brad Meisner (he/him) is the Director of the School of Global Health. His interdisciplinary program of research investigates various psychosocial and ecological determinants of aging, health, and well-being. Much of Dr. Meisner’s work focuses on the impacts of intrapersonal, interpersonal, and institutionalized ageism on the health and lives of older people and aging populations. His research has contributed to policy frameworks and strategic plans that aim to reduce ageism and promote age equity, including the World Health Organization’s Global Report on Ageism.
Dr. Meisner also leads national and international organizations that advance aging research and education. He is the President of the Canadian Association on Gerontology and Chair of the North America Regional Committee for the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics. He also serves as a member of the Editorial Team and the North America Regional Liaison for the Journal of Global Ageing.
Graduate supervision
Dr. Meisner is interested in supervising graduate students who wish to conduct research on aging and ageism, especially those interested in using intersectional approaches.
