Susan Rogers Van Katwyk

Susan Rogers Van Katwyk is the Managing Director of the AMR Policy Accelerator and the WHO Collaborating Centre on Global Governance of Antimicrobial Resistance at the Global Strategy Lab at York University.

Dr. Rogers Van Katwyk’s research focuses on understanding the drivers of AMR and developing strategies to mitigate its impact. She has a track record of highly impactful, innovative, policy-relevant research that merges epidemiologic research methods, including quasi-experimental methods and systematic reviews, with methods from gender studies, international relations, and political science to identify effective national policies, evaluate the strength of the evidence, and generate actionable recommendations for policy implementation and evaluation. Her research has been published in leading medical journals including BMJ, PLOS Medicine, and The Lancet.

Prior to joining the Global Strategy Lab, Dr. Rogers Van Katwyk held positions as a Policy Analyst in the Office of the Chief Public Health Officer of Canada, as a Fellow in the Executive Office of UNAIDS, and as an Epidemiologist with the Public Health Agency of Canada where she received a Recognition of Excellence Award for Knowledge Development and Transfer.

Dr. Rogers Van Katwyk holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Ottawa where she received the Best Thesis Award and the Award of Excellence in Graduate Studies from the Faculty of Medicine, and the Worton Researcher in Training Honourable Mention from the Ottawa Hospital. She also holds first-class honours degree in Biochemistry and Women & Gender Studies from Mount Allison University.
