Residence Guarantees

International Students Attending Out-of-Province or Foreign high school

First year international students coming directly from an out-of-province or foreign high school attending York University in Fall 2025 are guaranteed:

a space in residence
a 4-year on-campus housing/residence guarantee

if they have completed a housing application by May 1, 2025, and accept their admission by the deadline.

To continue to be eligible for the 4-year guarantee in upper-years, students must:

Continue to be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program at York University and take the required number of credits to be eligible for residence
Complete a residence application each academic year by May 1 of the year the application opens.
Accept their residence offer by the deadline indicated in the Offer Letter.
Adhere to all mandatory policies, including but not limited to purchasing a meal plan (if applicable).
Continuously stay in residence for the Fall and Winter semesters for all 4 years to remain eligible for the guarantee.
Adhere to the terms of the Residence Occupancy Agreement and Student Code of Rights and Responsibilities during each academic year.
Remain in good financial and behavioural standings with the University.

International Students Attending Ontario high school

First year international students coming directly from an Ontario high school attending York University in Fall 2025 are guaranteed:

a space in residence
a single room if preferred (if they have a 90% or above average)
a 4-year on-campus housing/residence guarantee

if they have completed a housing application by June 3, 2025, and accept their admission by the deadline.

To continue to be eligible for the 4-year guarantee in upper-years, students must:

Continue to be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program at York University and take the required number of credits to be eligible for residence
Complete a residence application each academic year by May 1 of the year the application opens.
Accept their residence offer by the deadline indicated in the Offer Letter.

Canadian Students Attending Out-of-Province or Foreign high school

First year Canadian students coming directly from an out-of-province or foreign high school attending York University in Fall 2025 are guaranteed:

a space in residence

if they have completed a housing application by May 1, 2025, and accept their admission by the deadline.

Canadian Students Attending Ontario high school

First year Canadian students coming directly from an Ontario high school attending York University in Fall 2025 are guaranteed:

a space in residence
a single room if preferred (if they have a 90% or above average)

if they have completed a housing application by June 3, 2025, and accept their admission by the deadline.

Residence Offer Acceptance and Confirmation

First year students are encouraged to live in traditional dorm-style residences with a roommate. This arrangement provides an excellent opportunity to meet other students, socialize and study together. Additionally, the convenience of a meal plan is included. Dorm residence is our most affordable option, and cleaning services are provided for common areas and washrooms.

Students will receive information about the new roommate matching, room selection and housing acceptance process as it becomes available. New student residence offers will begin after respective deadlines. Any changes to the above dates will be communicated via email and our website.

Residence offers will not include building and room information. Students will have the opportunity to choose their own room through the Room Selection module.

Information regarding moving into residence will be available here and will be updated as it gets closer to move-in day. A move-in package email will be sent to residents who accepted a space prior to arrival.

Waitlisted Applicants

Housing Services will endeavour to update students on wait list status from time to time. However, it is the student’s responsibility to follow up regarding this by emailing residence@glendon.yorku.ca.
