York University researchers will have a prominent presence during the International Sociological Association’s (ISA) world congress. The event runs July 15 to 21 at the Metro Convention Centre in Toronto, and attracts more than 5,000 sociologists. It takes place once every four years.
This year, the event features a number of contributions from both York University faculty and students. More than 50 York sociologists will present their research to the world’s top social researchers.
“The diversity and engagement of our researchers shows how York’s sociologists work to both understand the world, partly in order to change it” said York University’s Chair of sociology Lesley Wood. “York’s sociology program is a centre for public and critical research.”
Wood notes York’s Department of Sociology contributed to the event by raising funds to allow sociologists from conflict zones to attend, and will host a reception for the international scholars.
