Researchers from York University’s Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS) have received $2 million in total funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
The SSHRC Insight program supports research excellence in the social sciences and humanities. With a faculty success rate of 52.4% and total funding of nearly $1.5 million, 11 projects have been announced as recipients of the 2021 SSHRC Insight Grant. This program funds research focused on building knowledge and understanding of people, societies, and the world. 2021-2022 initiatives supported by the program will help LA&PS researchers advance knowledge in critical areas of post-pandemic marginalization, healthcare policy and climate change.
The public announcement of the competition results for SSHRC Insight Grants: Competition Year 2022 is available online.
The NSERC Discovery program offers foundational grants for researchers in natural sciences and engineering, to pursue curiosity-driven work leading to scientific advancements. With a Faculty success rate of 100% and total funding of $500,000, this year will see three LA&PS faculty members leading research innovations in science and information technology.
NSERC Research Grants Competition – Results by Institution are also publicly available online.
“Investigator-driven work is the foundation of academic research, and the way most graduate students are trained, especially in the humanities and social sciences. Our success in these programs again demonstrates the commitment of our researchers to making fundamental advances in their fields” said Ravi de Costa, Associate Dean Research and Graduate of LA&PS.
