LA&PS Professor Joann Jasiak was awarded a SSHRC Connection Grant, for a project titled: “Inequality measures and econometric modelling.” The goal of the project is to organize an academic conference in Toronto on October 25-27, 2024. This conference will make a unique contribution by showcasing state-of-the-art methodological developments and cover a broad range of inequality measures designed for individual and aggregate data, including a variety of econometric models for applications in micro- and macro-economics and finance.
Professor Jasiak stated, “we hope that this event will encourage cross-fertilization both across the different sub-fields within economics and across disciplines such as Economics, Statistics, Insurance, Finance, Business, and Computer Sciences, enhance collaboration and generate new networks in our scientific community.”
The event is being organized in close collaboration with Professor Antoine Djogbenou, who takes care of the scientific direction of the event as well as Professors Paul Rilstone, Razvan Sufana, Pujee Tuvaandorj, Ilya Archakov and Jun Zhao who are colleagues and fellow econometricians at the dept of Economics. Professor Jasiak would like to acknowledge the support from York University: Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, the Department of Economics, Office of the Vice-President Research & Innovation, and York’s Catalyzing Interdisciplinary Research Clusters program. In addition, the event is sponsored by the Canadian Economic Association and Analysis Group, and the Society for Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics (SNDE).
