Internal Notices
Banting Post-doctoral Fellowships
Faculty members who are contacted about serving as a supervisor to a would-be Banting applicant should immediately contact Emily Anglin in FGS. York sponsors only a limited number of Banting files each year, and there is an internal competition to determine which files will go forward.
VPRI Re-launched Its Website
The Office of the Vice-President Research & Innovation launched a new external research website on Monday, April 18, 2016. The site is available here.
Internal research content, including selected funding opportunities, documents and forms, information about research policies and procedures will only be posted on YULink, under the Academic Resources, Research section. The new external research website will highlight our research strengths, and feature information related to excellence in research & innovation, general information about research services and Innovation York.

SSHRC Grant in Aid of Travel
Deadline: August 1, 2016 (for travel during Sept 1 – Feb 29)
To provide assistance for attendance at national and international scholarly conferences for which the applicant is giving a paper, making a poster presentation, or featured at a solo or 2 person opening of an exhibition, a principal screening, premier performance of dance, theatre or musical production.

LA&PS Travel Grant for Dissemination
Deadline: August 1, 2016
To offset costs associated with the public dissemination of research, scholarship, or creativity. Eligibility: Full-time YUFA faculty members and senior scholars in LA&PS. (If you have trouble accessing the form, contact Sergio Garzon.)

SSHRC and Canada 150
SSHRC is pleased to offer Connecting for Canada’s 150th, a unique series of Connection Grants to support one hundred and fiftieth anniversary-related initiatives organized by postsecondary institutions and scholars. These events or outreach activities should mark or celebrate this historic anniversary, enhancing our understanding of the social, cultural, technological, environmental and economic issues we face at 150.

External Grants and Fellowships
SSHRC Targeted Research: Syrian Refugee Arrival, Resettlement and Integration
ORS full review Deadline: May 30, 2016
Agency deadline: June 13, 2016 by 8:00pm Eastern
To award supplementary support to SSHRC-funded researchers who have received a SSHRC grant in the past six years related to Syrian refugees’ arrival, resettlement and integration.
Note: All application materials must be submitted as PDF files and be received by June 13, 2016 at the agency. ORS must receive the application no later than June 6, 2016, by 10:00am in order to prepare the required institutional letter and return it to the applicant to include in his/her application materials for submission to SSHRC on June 13, 2016. The applicant will be responsible for submitting the PDF files directly to SSHRC.

SSHRC Connection Grant
ORS full review Deadline: July 15, 2016
Agency Deadline: July 29, 2016
Connection Grants support events and outreach activities geared toward short-term, targeted knowledge mobilization initiatives. The next round will be the first of three to include a “Canada 150” component. For further details of that, look under the “External Notices” of this digest.

NSERC Discovery: Notice of Intent to Apply
Deadline: August 1st, 2016 by 8:00 p.m.
Researchers who are considering applying for a NSERC Discovery Grant (Deadline: November 1, 2016) must complete the Notification of Intent to Apply (Form 180).
