GPA Calculator

Your grade point average, or GPA, is the average of the grades you’ve earned in all of your courses. In order to calculate your GPA, each letter grade is assigned a point value and each course a credit value.

Use the GPA calculator below to calculate your grade point average. If a course has not been completed and a final grade has not been assigned, do not include the course in your calculations. If you have repeated a course, only the most recent attempt should be used in the calculation. The reverse GPA calculator will help you determine the grades you will need to achieve a specific GPA.

Grades are reported by the Registrar at the end of each academic session. The York transcript is the official record of all courses and grades taken through York University.

Or follow these steps:

  1. Use the chart to convert letter grades to grade points. Multiply the grade point you earned by the course credit value to get your overall grade for each course.
  2. Add up the credit values for all courses.
  3. Add up the overall grades for all courses.
  4. Divide the total overall grades by the total credit values to get your GPA.

Grade Point Averages

Averages are calculated on the basis of the point value assigned to each letter grade as well as the credit value associated with that grade point value. To calculate your grade point average, type in the credit weight and enter the correct grade for the courses you have taken. If a course has not been completed and a final grade has not been assigned, do not include the course in your calculations. Please refer to the example below:
