Professor Andrea Davis has inspired me by demonstrating a certain steadfastness in her approach to delivering her lectures, workshops and teach-ins. She’s a visionary who has worked tirelessly to conceive the creation of the Black Canadian Studies Certificate at York University. She is full of compassion and cares deeply for her students as if they were her own. She is a role model who inspires me to be great and make a difference wherever my journey takes me. Professor Davis’ empathy goes beyond the classroom and touches the lives of many through her contributions as an author and researcher. I’m appreciative of her contributions which have expanded the fields of African Diaspora Studies and Black Cultural and Feminist Studies while bringing increased visibility to the experiences of Black folk across the diaspora.
