Lena Azzou is the Chief of Staff at Metrolinx.
Metrolinx is currently undertaking the largest transportation investment in Ontario’s history with the Subway Expansion, GO Expansion, and Rapid Transit programmes, while also operating GO Transit, UP Express and PRESTO. Metrolinx is also responsible for the planning, building and operations connecting communities in the GGH.
As Chief of Staff, Lena partners with the CEO and Executive team on the development and deployment of corporate strategy around key issues, organizational direction, and strategic management.
During her time at Metrolinx, Lena worked in various roles including working on the development of Business Case methodology and project evaluation, governance, corporate transformations, and strategic planning. Lena is the Executive Sponsor for the Metrolinx Women’s Network (MWN) which is an employee resource group of over 300 women and allies. The MWN focuses on women working in the transportation and infrastructure industry in a variety of roles. As Executive Sponsor, Lena actively champions initiatives focused on the improvement of corporate diversity by attracting, developing, and retaining women, and increasing the visibility of women leaders in the transportation industry.
Prior to joining Metrolinx, Lena gained experience in both the structural engineering and telecommunications industries where she took on responsibilities for both technical and customer experience specific projects and files. Lena is a graduate of York University and has completed the Schulich School of Business LEADS Program. She also volunteers her personal time with Habitat for Humanity where she is able to give back to her community.
