DARE Project: The Rise of Renewable Energy Technologies in Africa: What We Are Missing

I am looking forward to a career in policy research and intervention in the future. This experience was invaluable in teaching me dynamic skills to approach some of the key tenets in those fields. 

Project Description:

There are blind spots in scholarly literature on renewable energy technologies in Africa. Specifically, little is known about the gendered factors influencing the uptake and use of renewable energy technologies in Africa. Also, there is a research gap with respect to how cultural contexts shape the adoption of renewable energy technologies in Africa. Based on this background, this DARE project aims to address the following specific questions: (a) How do gender and cultural contexts shape the adoption of renewable energy technologies in Africa? (b) How does the adoption of renewable energy technologies reproduce existing gendered socio-economic asymmetries?
