Project Description:
There are blind spots in scholarly literature on renewable energy technologies in Africa. Specifically, little is known about the gendered factors influencing the uptake and use of renewable energy technologies in Africa. Also, there is a research gap with respect to how cultural contexts shape the adoption of renewable energy technologies in Africa. Based on this background, this DARE project aims to address the following specific questions: (a) How do gender and cultural contexts shape the adoption of renewable energy technologies in Africa? (b) How does the adoption of renewable energy technologies reproduce existing gendered socio-economic asymmetries?The Dean’s Award for Research Excellence (DARE) – Undergraduate enables our students to meaningfully engage in research projects supervised by LA&PS faculty members.
