DARE Project: The Governance of Indigenous Labours: The Case of Federally-Regulated Employment Standards
Program(s) of Study: Philosophy
Project Supervisor: Leah F. Vosko

This DARE research project supported work being done in the legal field regarding the rights of Indigenous communities and how the settler state has created barriers regarding labour and employment. More specifically, it focused on a legal concept called the “core of Indianness” which the research team examined and further developed. To gather this research, I was responsible for reading and analyzing various court cases pertaining to Indigenous rights and jurisdictional issues and seeing how it impacts the labour industry for Indigenous communities.

The Dean’s Award for Research Excellence (DARE) – Undergraduate enables our students to meaningfully engage in research projects supervised by LA&PS faculty members. Find out more about DARE.
