Connect with a Mentor for Support throughtout Your First Year

We know that starting university can be both exciting and overwhelming, and the Peer Mentor Program provides you with all the necessary information to make your transition as smooth as possible.

Peer Mentors are engaged and knowledgeable upper-year students trained to help you access university resources, find friends, build your confidence and give you the inside scoop on life at York.

The First-Year Experience site on eClass is also a valuable resource where you can find answers to questions and connect with upper-year students and professors.

There is a Space for Everyone at Vanier College Productions!

Whether it’s acting, singing, costumes, props, box office or stage management, there is a role for everyone at Vanier College Productions (VCP)! VCP is also looking for graphic designers, video editors and photographers.

Auditions for this year’s musical, plays, show choir and improv/comedy troupe take place from September 9 to 12 and production interviews start September 9. No prior experience required.
If you are interested in anti-racism or accessibility, you are invited to help VCP’s inclusion support initiatives.

Professional Development & Career Mentorship with Advancing YU!

Advancing YU is a mentorship program for third- and fourth-year Black students and/or women students in LA&PS. Students are matched with experienced York alumni, who are now in professional roles, to provide advice on the next steps of a student’s career path after university. In addition to regular meetings with a mentor, the program includes professional development workshops and a scholarship.

Advancing YU program applications are now open until October 4. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 54 credits toward their degree. To learn more and apply for the 2024-25 Advancing YU program, visit the Student Information page.

For more information, join the Advancing YU information session on October 2 from 12 to 2 p.m. in VC001. This session is open to all – those who are applying or still thinking about it.

The Cross-Campus Capstone Classroom (C4) projects are complex, real-world problems in need of innovative solutions. Develop transferrable skills, apply your knowledge and learn from others as you work as a team on a project to create real-world change. By considering perspectives and combining expertise, your team can make an impact.

Take the First Step Towards Your Career!

LA&PS Co-op is now available to all students in their second year of study! Regardless of the academic program you are pursuing, co-ops provide an opportunity to gain valuable paid work experience and explore different career paths!

Before applying to the LA&PS Co-op Program, students must attend an info session, which is available for students to complete on eClass asynchronously. If you have more questions, please attend the virtual info session.

The Office of the Ombudsperson is a confidential, impartial and independent resource for University Community members

They provide conflict resolution support with respect to university-related complaints and advise students navigating university policies and decision-making processes. The Ombuds office helps students with academic petitions support, appeal, tuition refunds, among other issues.
