JWST 3825 6.0 – The Holocaust in Cross-Cultural Context: Canada, Germany, and Poland

The course brings together Canadian university students and fellow students from Germany and Poland, to explore how best to counter racism – including antisemitism – through learning and teaching about the Holocaust.  The course includes two periods of intensive collaborative work and exploration. The first is a 3-week Field Study in Germany and Poland that takes place during the summer of 2024. The second, a ten-day follow-up Symposium at York University in February 2026, examines Canadian contexts, and includes encounters with different religious, ethnic, and cultural communities in the GTA.  The course engages with experts and members of the broader public in all three countries. Students wishing to enrol in the course will be interviewed before being accepted.

Applications will be open from November 11, 2024 to January 10, 2025.
