Gilda holds an honours BA double major in Economics, and Italian Language & Literature from York University, and an International MBA (IMBA) from the Schulich School of Business, York University.
An interest in international trade and business development has shaped her academic and career path, which reflects in her current role representing the UK government in Canada as Head of Creative, Media, Sports Economy, and Technology, Canada, for the UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT), based in Toronto at the British Consulate General.
She is responsible for DBT’s Investment and Trade remits leading a team across Canada to provide guidance to Canadian companies seeking to set up or expand their presence in the UK, and to UK suppliers looking to do business in Canada. She works closely with UK and Canadian industry stakeholders to advance this bilateral relationship.
Her role encompasses many facets of private industry and government engagement between the two markets including client and stakeholder management and collaboration, strategy and market development, spearheading sector initiatives, policy and thought leadership exchange, and contributing input to UK trade policy.
