My journey began with the Bridging Women’s Program, when I was accepted to attend weekly seminars. At the time, I was unsure of where this journey would take me as the environment was so new to me, but I knew I was taking a step in the right direction.
Working on group projects and creating small skits allowed me to create new relationships with people in my classes, and connect with women who are in similar or the same situation as me. I have been fortunate to establish professional relationships which have led to mentorships.
I am incredibly grateful for those who have believed in me and contributed to my sense of empowerment. I hope to invoke this sentiment into other women. Because of my experience stemming from this program, I am able to share with others what I have learned and often recommend this program as a stepping-stone. After completing the Bridging program, I was accepted into York University. This led to my successful completion of my Bachelor of Arts in Human Rights and Equity Studies, with a minor in Gender, Sexuality and Women Studies.
