Graduate Program in Public Policy, Administration & Law, Master of Public Policy, Administration and Law (MPPAL) 2014
Jennifer Servos Jones is a former civil servant with over 15 years of experience in the Ontario Public Service across three ministries. She completed the Master of Public Policy, Administration, and Law program while working full time to expand her knowledge and skills in the field and open opportunities for career growth. After graduating, she served in various senior advisory roles to executives in the public service with a focus on communications, and strategic and operational policy. She is currently a PhD student in the Faculty of Education at York, researching post-secondary education policy in Ontario.
My experience in York’s MPPAL program was fundamental in helping me to break in to more senior roles in the public service. The program gave me a deeper understanding of the workings of the public sector and the skills, knowledge, and network I gained was instrumental in advancing my career. Crucially, the program’s design allowed me to pursue my goal of continuing my education without putting my career on hold.
My time in MPPAL also fostered a deep interest in public policy research and because of the program, I am now pursing a PhD focused on policy studies.
