Tell prospective students a bit about the work you do.

The Inspectorate of Policing monitors, advises, conducts inspections and investigates complaints with respect to the delivery of policing and compliance with the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 (CSPA) and its regulations, as well as investigating complaints related to board member misconduct. As a Strategic Advisor, I support the Inspector General (IG) of Policing to work respectfully and professionally with policing partners responsible for the delivery of policing/public safety to meet legislative obligations; to help transform policing and the relationship between the police and the broader community. Specifically this role working within the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) entails:

Providing strategic analysis, advice and executive support to the IG/Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) and Directors with regards to the strategic planning of the Division and a range of communication and information requirements.
Coordinating, managing and processing corporate initiatives, recommendations and priorities.
Ensuring key activities and initiatives across the Division align with direction, commitments and interests of the Inspectorate of Policing and Ministry.
Planning and overseeing a variety of special projects and assignments on behalf of the IG/ADM to address immediate issues requiring research, analysis, and coordination of information and input from various program areas/sources.
Providing advice and executive support to the IG/ADM, Directors and Executive Assistant on key activities, initiatives and engagements.
Coordinating and ensuring the quality and timeliness of briefing materials, submissions, correspondence and responses, prioritizing and scheduling requests, responses, and follow-up activities.
Tell prospective students a bit about how your studies at York helped you to get where you are today.

The Master of Public Policy, Administration and Law (MPPAL) proved to be an advantegous professional and interdisciplinary graduate program that provided me with the skills needed for effective public administration and public policy analysis, specially focused on constitutional and administrative law and social justice. York's MPPAL graduate degree afforded me competencies that enhanced my professional career opportunities and promotional roles with the Ontario Public Service.
