Global Political Studies

When I came to York, every class and paper made me question my naïve political beliefs and recognize my biases. I was lost in and overwhelmed by the complexity and versatility of the world of politics. However, gradually I learned to navigate through the sea of ideas, theories, and facts. I developed my own interests and gained a deeper understanding of how power shapes my reality. Today this knowledge helps me recognize causes of injustices and inspires me to live a more ethical life every day. The best thing about Global Political Studies is that this program made me more conscious about the world around me. With the help of different resources at York, I've also gained professional experience in my field prior to graduating. One of the highlights of my university career so far was my internship in Uganda, where I worked in fields of development and environment. Besides professional benefits, the internship was also full of adventures and discoveries of new cultures and languages. I even managed to pick up some local languages. Overall, my education at York has helped me to become a type of a person I always wanted be—educated, professional, well traveled, and adventurous.
