Work & Labour Studies

The Work and Labour Studies program has been exceptional for two reasons: It has an ability to teach students using both theoretical and practical approaches; and as a smaller program there is a little bit more of a community surrounding you throughout your time here. That small community makes it easier to develop relationships with both students and faculty, which translate to a support system personally, academically, and professionally.

In addition, when it comes to activism, or organizing people for change, having a group of similarly focused people is tantamount to success. This is also where the Work and Labour Studies program differs from many others; theory is always taught, but is also placed in an "on the ground" context. Learning from people who have years of organizing and activism experience, as well as courses that teach strategic research, and put students in the field to gain experience gives a student the tools to make a difference, make a career, and make friends as part of a community.
