Danielle Legerman
Children, Childhood & Youth, Bachelor of Arts (BA) - Honours 2024
Bachelor of Education (BEd)
My experience in CCY has been nothing short of eye-opening and enriching. The faculty, including professors and TAs, fostered a positive and empowering learning space for all, where students can delve deep into child-centred pedagogies which center rights-based approaches and discussions at their core. Most notably, I deeply value learning all about children and youth’s agency and rights, as this has profoundly shaped my professional teaching practice and my experiences in the BEd program (York U) by empowering me to ensure that children and youth’s agency are always at the core of my work, and continues to inform my practice.
Alongside being a student in CCY, I was a part of the Children, Childhood & Youth Student Association (CCYSA), as a Senior Events Coordinator. Through CCYSA, I had the incredible opportunity to interact, support and work with local community members, such as fellow CCY students, and faculty. Being a part of CCYSA, was rewarding and fostered a welcoming community to create connections.
As I look ahead - I am thrilled to be completing the BEd program in June 2024, and receiving my OCT (Ontario Certified Teacher) certification. I am continuing my professional journey in education, as I am working towards pursuing an MEd at York U. With these new and exciting ventures, I will continue to employ the invaluable knowledge that I have gained through my time in CCY
