Sociology, Bachelor of Arts (BA) 2010
An education in liberal arts is important because, among other things, it develops your ability to think critically. It develops skills of analysis and articulation, which prove to be incredibly important skills in both your personal life and in the professional sphere. On an academic level, it broadens your knowledge of world issues, actors, institutions, and the interaction between each on both the world stage and in everyday life.
Sociology is a broad discipline, and combined with options for elective courses, throughout my degree program I was able to take courses on a variety of subject matter, both within the discipline and outside of it. I felt I had a well-rounded education and became educated in a wide variety of topics that proved to be very useful in my professional life thereafter.
