Works with an International NGO
Children, Childhood & Youth, Bachelor of Arts (BA) - Honours 2013
I graduated with an Honours BA in Children's Studies in 2013. After graduation I worked as a community coordinator, launching Miracle Junior Football Club, a club for children in low-income and gang-prone areas in Toronto.
My interest in child-centered community development led me to consider a Master’s degree. With research in the issue of child migration and labor in Southeast Asia, I earned a Master’s of Science in International Development from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands in 2016.
I then had the opportunity to work in Cambodia as the coordinator of a project that investigates human trafficking, but decided to work for a grassroots organization in Korea that assists refugees.
My background in Children's Studies (now CCY) helped to shed light on (un)accompanied refugees. My current work relates to the “right to play” article of the UNCRC being implemented in South Korea by an international NGO. It is my goal to continue working to protect and prevent children on the move without safe documentation and social networks, especially in Southeast Asia.
